Overview

Over the years, there have been an high rise of events such as Tech events, party shows and so on in Nigeria. I decided to come up with a solution in collaboration with the CEO of Digital Figures to help Event Planners manage their events and receive payouts from their customers. This project was fast-paced and the MVP needed to be launched immediately so as to get feedback from our Potential customers that will help us provide a solution that they would make them more efficient.

Business requirements

Core functionalities:
Event creation & management: Create event details, set ticketing options (free/paid), manage registration, track attendance.
Registration & ticketing: Secure online registration, ticketing options with promo codes, e-ticket delivery.
Event promotion & marketing: Tools to share events on social media, send email invitations, track marketing performance.
Analytics & reporting: Track registrations, sales, attendee demographics, generate reports.

Challenges

Due to deliverables required for this project, I had to wear multiple hats to both design and come up with feature requirements for various devices within a short timeframe. I had to be well organized while working with developers so as not miss any important screen or flow.

Research

I did competitive analysis by comparing the strengths and potential gaps for improvement from different event platforms such as Eventsbrite, Tix africa and so on. I also had some phone interviews with Event planners to learn more about their pain points if there are any and what expectations they may have regarding an events management application. Insights from these research methods were useful and it helped tremendously in the design process.

Results & Conclusion

At the moment, the application is in beta and so far, we have gotten over 80 registered event planners from different states in Nigeria. The solution looks scalable and further improvements will be added to it as time moves on.
